The West Indies have defeated Pakistan by 2 wickets in the second T20 match to make the three-match series 1-1 due to Jason Holder’s all-round performance but a bad news has come out for the Caribbean team before the third match. His batsman Rowman Powell is out of the T20 series against Pakistan.

Powell failed to recover from the wrist injury during the recent series against Australia, due to which he has been ruled out of the current T20 series against Pakistan. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed that no other player will be announced in place of 32 -year -old Powell.

Powell was hurt on 26 July in an attempt to take a catch during the fourth T20 match against Australia at St. Kitts. Due to this incident, he had to sit out of the fifth and final match of that series and he could not play the first and second match against Pakistan in Lauderhill, Florida on 31 July.

There is now only one match left in the three -match series, which is to be on this ground on August 4, so the absence of Powell is a major setback for the West Indies. Powell’s injury, known for its power-touching and leadership ability, has come at such an unfortunate time when the team is trying to get a rhythm before the ODI series against Pakistan.

After the T20 series, both teams will visit Trinidad and Tobago’s Taruba for the three-match ODI series starting on August 8. Powell is not expected to be part of the ODI team, as he last played in this format in 2023. Being out of Powell, the West Indies will depend on the performance of their current team in the remaining matches. Pakistan defeated West Indies by 14 runs in the first T20 International match but the West Indies made a brilliant comeback in the second match and won the second Machi by two wickets. Now the series is equal to 1-1 and the series will be decided in the third T20 to be held on August 4.
