The series name is Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, but the presentation missed both veterans; ECB silence after an exciting victory
Anderson tendulkar trophy presentation: The first Anderson-Tendulkar trophy played between India and England at the Oval ground in London ended in a very exciting style. The Indian team, captained by Shubman Gill, won the last Test by 6 runs and made the five-match series 2–2.
But on this historic occasion, neither Sachin Tendulkar nor James Anderson were seen in the trophy presentation ceremony, which surprised cricket lovers. While the England and Wales Cricket Board changed the trophy from “Pataudi Trophy” to “Anderson Tendulkar Trophy”. Now cricket fans are now seeking answers from ECB on this matter. Which has now become a topic of discussion.
Sachin-Anderson’s absence raised questions
Both veterans, India’s great batsman Sachin Tendulkar and veteran fast bowler James Anderson were not present during the trophy presentation after winning India’s Oval Test and series draw. Also, no member of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s family was seen giving Pataudi medal. Neither the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has given any explanation for their absence nor any response has come from the players.
Significantly, before this year, the Test series played between India and England was called Pataudi Trophy. But this time ECB renamed it to the name of Tendulkar and Anderson (Anderson Tendulkar Trophy). Both were present at the trophy unveiling ceremony in June, but their absence in the closing ceremony has come under question.
Fifth day match was exciting
On the fifth and last day of the fifth match of Anderson Tendulkar Trophy, England needed only 35 runs to win while India needed 4 wickets. The match became very close, but Mohammad Siraj once again showed his strength and won Team India with three important wickets.
Siraj became the most wicket of the series
Mohammad Siraj took five wickets in the second innings of this Test and won the man of the match title with a total of 9 wickets in the match. Siraj took the most 23 wickets in this series and once again proved that he has become a match winner for Team India.
