Donald Trump again said to India- ‘Tariffs will increase to a great extent in the next 24 hours’
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said in a manner of re -threatening India that he would increase the US tariff ‘to a large extent’ in the next 24 hours as he is buying Russian oil. They are fueling Russia’s war machine, and if they do so, I will not be happy. Trump said this in an interview with a TV channel. In this, Trump said that India has not been a good business partner, as they do a lot of business with us, but we do not do business with them.
The main bottleneck in trade agreement is India’s high tariff
In an interview with a TV channel, Trump accused the trade deal and India of double standards. When asked if there was a trade agreement with India, Trump said that the main bottleneck is the high tariffs of India. Now I will definitely say that India has talked about giving us ‘zero tariffs’, but now it is not enough, because what they are doing with oil is not approved. A day earlier, Trump had accused India of purchasing a huge amount of Russian oil and earning profits from it, saying that he would increase the American tariff to a large extent on India.
India’s sharp answer
A few hours after Trump’s comments, the Government of India described the Criticism of the US and the European Union as unfair and impractical and termed the target on the purchase of Russian oil as double parameters. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that targeting India on the issue is completely inappropriate and double standards. The US and the European Union themselves continue trade with Russia- along with energy, trade of fertilizer, minerals, chemicals, iron and steel, machinery and other equipment continues.
The Ministry of External Affairs further stated that as far as America is concerned, it is still importing uranium hexafloride for its nuclear power, paladium for electric vehicle sector, as well as fertilizer and chemicals for its nuclear power. The ministry clearly stated that India, like a big economy, will take all the steps necessary to protect its national interest and economic security.
White House statement and India’s response
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller told a TV channel that President Trump has clearly stated that it is not acceptable for India to buy oil from Russia. This is providing financial assistance to Ukraine War. Recently, Trump had commented on India-Russia relations and said- these two countries can drown their dead economy along with their dead economy. India replied to this- India is the fastest growing big economy in the world. Trump had earlier stated that India is the largest buyer of military equipment and oil from Russia, and has severe imbalance in trade with the US.
