Who was Love and Kush? Love and Kush were the great warriors of Treta Yuga, who was the son of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram and Mother Sita. He received education in the ashram of Maharishi Valmiki. He was not only proficient in running a bow and arrow, but was also known for his mother for immense love and unwavering reverence for Guru.
Birth and early life: When Lord Rama abandoned the pregnant mother Sita at the behest of the subjects, she started living in the ashram of Valmiki Rishi. Love and Kush were born there. His childhood was spent in the calm and natural environment of the ashram. Sita Mata taught her two sons to dignity, religion and virtue.
Guru’s concept and education: Love and Kush completed their education under the patronage of Maharishi Valmiki. He not only gained knowledge of archery, weapons and all the Vedas, but also learned the entire story of Ramayana from his Guru. Ashwamedha Yajna and Shriram meet: Lord Rama performed Ashwamedha Yagya, whose horse reached near Valmiki Ashram while walking. Love and Kush caught that horse. When great warriors like Shatrughan, Lakshmana and Bharata tried to rescue the horse, Luv and Kush defeated them with their valor. It was only after this incident that Lord Rama came to know that he is his own son.
Reunion and coronation: When Lord Rama heard Luv and Kush singing before him, his heart became emotional. Later Maharishi Valmiki introduced Rama and Kush to Rama, after which an emotional reunion occurred.
