There is a good news for railway passengers. The Railway Ministry has announced a new experimental “round trip package for festive Rush” scheme to reduce the congestion of passengers in the upcoming festivals and make the journey easier. According to the news of Moneycontrol, according to the circular issued by the Railway Board on August 8, 2025, under this scheme, if passengers book the same class, the same origin (from where you want to start traveling) and the destination (where to go) book a confirmed ticket for traveling on both sides, then they will get a discount of 20% on the base of the return journey.
Booking will be done from August 14
According to the news, booking of such train tickets will start from 14 August 2025 under “Round Trip Package for Festival Rush” scheme, in which the journey should be between 13 October to 26 October 2025. Between 17 November to 1 December 2025, the return journey will have to be booked through the “Connecting Journey” feature. The advance reservation period will not be applicable on return ticket booking. The scheme will apply to all classes and trains, except trains that apply the flexi-fare system, and will be valid only for confirmed tickets.
To get a discount on the ticket, the passenger will have to book the online ticket first and then book a return ticket from the connecting journey feature for the same class and OD pair. This facility is available through both online and counter mediums. One thing to note, no refund, correction or second discount will be given in the tickets booked under this scheme.
Railways is redeveloping stations
Under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, 1,300 railway stations are being redeveloped across the country, out of which work on 104 has been completed. The objective of this scheme is to make the stations better and modernize in the entire railway network and provide better facilities to the passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the station redevelopment scheme in 2023. Of the 1,300 stations, many of which redevelopment work is scheduled to be completed, of which 132 are located in Maharashtra.
