Delhi Airport affects bad weather, more than 300 flights late, Airlines alerted

More than 300 flights were delayed at Delhi Airport (Indira Gandhi International Airport) due to heavy rains and bad weather in the capital Delhi on Saturday. However, it is a matter of relief that no aircraft had to divert. According to PTI news, Delhi Airport, which is the busiest airport in the country operates about 1,300 flights every day. But on Saturday, continuous rains slowed down the speed of air traffic. According to Flightradar24.com data, most of the flights were delayed by an average of 17 minutes, and some flights also had to be canceled.

Airlines advise to be vigilant

Domestic airline company IndiGo posted on social media platform X and said- due to heavy rains in Delhi, there has been a temporary impact on the schedule of flights. Passengers who are traveling today, take out extra time keeping in mind the possibility of delay. Traffic is also slow. We are keeping an eye on the situation and trying to normalize flight operations as soon as possible. Air India also warned the passengers that flights could be affected due to rain.

IMD released red alert, later yellow

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Saturday morning with heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning in the north, west, south, south-east and central regions of Delhi. However, a few hours later it was converted into a yellow alert and citizens were advised to be vigilant. Till 8:30 am on Saturday, the rains recorded in the major areas of the capital in the last 24 hours have been as follows:

Pragati Maidan – 100 mm

Safdarjung – 78.7 mm
Lodhi Road – 80 mm
Pusa – 69 mm
Palam – 31.8 mm
