Earthquake in Türkiye caused havoc

On Sunday evening, an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude occurred in Balikasir, the northwest province of Türkiye, which caused great havoc. According to the information, many buildings collapsed due to the earthquake and one person died. The Turkish Home Minister said that an 81 -year -old woman died shortly after being evicted from the debris in Sindirgi city, the center of the earthquake. He said that 16 buildings collapsed and 29 people were injured due to earthquake shocks. Turkish disaster management agency reported that the earthquake was recorded at around 19:53 at around 19:53 (16:53 GMT) and its shocks were felt till Istanbul.

President Erdogan said this by tweeting

President Rechpe Tayyip Erdogan issued a statement and wished all the affected to recover early and said that all relief efforts are being closely monitored. He wrote on X, “God protects our country from any kind of disaster.”

The search and rescue operations are now over, and the Home Minister said there have been no other indications of serious damage or casualties. However, in pictures obtained from Sindirgi, large buildings are seen to be completely demolished and folded metal and vast piles of debris.

Relief and rescue operations continue

Officials said the tremors of this earthquake in Sindirgi city were felt about 200 kilometers (125 mi) to the north of Istanbul, where the population is more than 1.6 million. Yralikaya reported that a total of 16 buildings in the region collapsed – most of which were dilapidated and unusable. He said that the minarets of two mosques also fell. The minister said that the condition of none of the injured is critical. In television footage, rescue teams are seen requesting people to maintain peace so that they can hear the signs of life under the debris.
