Importance : Goga/Gopa Panchami and Bhai-Bhena festival are celebrated every year on the Panchami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. In many places it is also called Bhai Bhinna Vrat and on this day, especially Goga Dev i.e. Jaharveer Gogaji is worshiped. On this day, sisters also follow the tradition of worship and gifts for the long life and safety of their brothers.
According to the belief prevalent in the public, Goga Dev and Nag Devta are specially worshiped on this day. This fast is filled with child happiness soon. This fast is considered to be a long life and good health to husband and child, and on the day of Goga Panchami, the sister applies to her brother’s forehead and feeds them sweets and takes stale food made of gram and rice herself, which is prepared a day in advance. Then the brothers give their sisters as a money or gift as per their ability.

Goga Panchami Puja Vidhi-

* On Gopa/Goga Panchami, wake up early in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes.

* After this, offer arghya to the Sun God with water and offer water to Peepal and Tulsi.

* Now clean the wall and paint with ocher.

* Now mix coal in raw milk and make a square shape on the wall.

* Make 5 snakes or snakes by mixing ocher, roli and coal over it.

* After that, anoint the shapes of the snake, anoint it with raw milk, water and offer roli and rice.

* Then mix millet, flour, ghee and sugar and offer offerings.

* After worshiping, chant the mantra- ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. Chant at least one garland.

* Give a donation to the Brahmin.
