New Delhi: The time to pull curtains on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is near as the ongoing season got done with its league stage fixtures on Sunday. After going through 70 matches, played across India between the ten participating teams, the fans have finally got the four teams who are playoffs qualified. Although, it was confirmed on Saturday as Sunday’s encounters turned out to be dead-rubbers, sans SRH’s second-on-the-table finish.

Sunrisers Hyderabad took on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first encounter of the day, hoping to get a top-two finish, which they ultimately did after beating the visitors by four wickets. They hoped Rajasthan Royals (RR) to go down in the following match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scheduled to be played in Guwahati, which was ultimately abandoned due to incessant rain. Although the staff tried to sneak a 7-over game as KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first, the rain returned to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium leading to the unfortunate result.
As a result, KKR will be facing SRH in the first qualifier in Ahmedabad on May 21 while RR will square off with RCB in the Eliminator at the same venue on May 22. The second qualifier will be played between Q1 loser and the Eliminator winner on May 24 in Chennai with the epic finale set on May 26 between Q1 and Q2 winner at the Chepauk.

RCB’s Virat Kohli roars at the top of the orange cap list with his tally soaring to 708 runs. CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad follows the batting stalwart with his tally at 583 runs. SRH’s Travis Head sits third with 533 runs and is followed by RR’s Riyan Parag who has 531 runs to his credit. GT’s Sai Sudharsan sits fifth having scored 527 runs.

PBKS’ Harshal Patel holds the top spot in the purple cap list with a total of 24 wickets. MI’s Japrit Bumrah claims the second spot with 20 wickets. PBKS’ Arshdeep Singh sits third bagging 19 wickets in total and is followed by KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy who claimed 18 wickets. CSK’s Tushar Deshpande is fifth on the list with 17 wickets to his name.
