398 roads closed due to rain in Himachal Pradesh, many vehicles suffered damage

In many parts of Himachal Pradesh, landslides occurred due to heavy to very heavy rains and 398 roads including three National Highways (NH) were closed for traffic due to trees being uprooted. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. Officials said three-four vehicles were damaged due to falling trees in the capital Shimla. Several trees fell in Tuticandi area, while the roof of a building was damaged due to falling of a tree in Vikas Nagar. A total of 398 roads in the state were closed for the movement of vehicles.

Many roads closed in Himachal Pradesh

These roads include NH-305’s share of-sainge road, Khab to Gramfu (NH-505) and Hatkoti to Paonta Sahib (NH-707). According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), 213 of these roads are roads in Mandi district and 85 roads from Kullu district. The Chamba-Pathankot highway collapsed near Dunera, due to which the road was closed. The local meteorological office has released ‘Orange Alert’ for heavy to very heavy rains at different places in five districts – Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur – on Wednesday and Thursday. Light to moderate rains continued in some parts of the state.

Nagrota Suria received 180.2 mm of rain, 161.2 mm in Guler, 112.2 mm in Ghamur, 78.5 mm in Nadaun, 76.2 mm in Dehra Gopipur, 74 mm in Jogindernagar, 73.8 mm in Kangra, 70.2 mm in Bhahari, 69 mm in Palampur, 69 mm in Sujanpur Tera Millimeter, 48.5 mm in Neri, 45.6 mm in Shimla and 42.5 mm in Dharamshala were recorded. The SEOC said that 119 people have died and 36 people are missing in the monsoon season this year. In addition, 669 power transformers and 529 water supply schemes have been affected. The monsoon knocked in the state on 20 June and so far there has been a loss of Rs 2007 crore in the state. During this period, 58 incidents of sudden floods, 30 incidents of cloudburst and 54 landslides have been reported.
