Hal Chief’s big statement on Tejas Mark 1 fighter aircraft, see exclusive interview

New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited i.e. HAL has achieved a major achievement for the Indian Air Force. HAL chairman and managing director Dr. DK Sunil told in a special interview to India TV that by the end of this month, 10 Lite Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas will be ready on Mark-1 flightline. Not only this, by December 2025, 12 Tejas aircraft will be completely operational. In 2021, 83 Tejas aircraft contracts were received and now 97 more orders have been received. This will make a total of 180 aircraft, which will make 10 squadrons.

Strength increased with the help of private sector

Dr. Sunil said that in the last two years, private sector participation has greatly increased HAL’s ability to make aircraft. Two engines have been received in April and July this year and the remaining 10 engines will come by the end of this year. The engines for all 12 aircraft will be prepared by March 2026. Talking about Tejas Mark-2, its design has been completed and now the work of making prototypes has started. Dr. Sunil said, ‘Work is going on on the parts and structure of the aircraft. The structure will be ready by the first quarter of next year. Flight testing will begin in the third or fourth quarter.

Public-private partnership success

Public-private partnership has a big role in increasing the strength of HAL. Dr. Sunil informed that 156 indigenous light combat helicopters are being made under a similar partnership. HAL is not having any problem in new projects due to the increasing capacity of private companies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for World’ missions are gaining momentum.

‘Negotiations are going on with many countries’

Dr. Sunil said that many countries in South-East Asia, Africa and South America have shown interest in Tejas and Alh helicopters. Hal Chief said, ‘Negotiations are going on with many countries. We are sure the deal will be final soon. The software and hardware design of these aircraft is completely under India’s control, which is our greatest strength. He said that the Government of India has shown great confidence in HAL. HAL is committed to give the best aircraft and helicopters to further strengthen the country’s defense strength.
