Heavy rains, thunderstorms and storms have occurred in Delhi-NCR on Friday morning. Due to the rain that started after 5 am, the roads were flooded and the vehicles stopped on the roads. Delhi-NCR is raining torrential rains on Friday. The weather has changed due to this rain. Along with Delhi, there is torrential rains in Haryana and Punjab. Many areas of Delhi have been flooded due to rain. The Meteorological Department has issued rain alert in Delhi for three days. At the same time, there was a possibility of winds at a speed of 70 km. This rain is due to western disturbance. The temperature has dropped due to rain, which will give relief from scorching heat.

  • Damage to standing crops.
  • Banana and papaya trees ranging from minor to great loss.

  • Strong wind/hailstorm can cause damage to plantation, horticulture and standing crops.
  • People and cattle may be injured in open places due to hailstorm.
  • Partial damage to weak structures due to strong winds.
  • Raw houses/walls and slight damage to huts.
  • Loose items can fly.

Suggested action:

  • People are advised to keep an eye on the weather for deteriorating conditions and be ready to go to safe places.
  • Stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed and avoid traveling if possible.
  • Take safe shelter; Do not take shelter under trees.
  • Do not lay on the floor of the concrete and do not bend with the help of concrete walls.
  • Unplug the power/electronic devices.
  • Exit immediately from water sources. Stay away from all the items that operate electricity.

One died in Bengal

Kolkata, Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Hooghly, West Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, East and West Burdwan districts of West Bengal also lasted strong thunderstorms, due to which many trees were uprooted and traffic has been affected. One person died due to lightning falling during the storm.
