Kathmandu, 28 September (HS). More than 50 people have died in the last 12 hours due to continuous rain in different parts of Nepal. More than one thousand people trapped in the flood have been rescued. So far, more than 1200 houses have been completely washed away in water in the last 24 hours.

According to the information given by the Armed Guard Force engaged in relief and rescue operations, 55 people have died across the country in the last 12 hours. Armed Guard DIG Purushottam Thapa, who is coordinating the rescue operation, said that most of the dead were in Kathmandu. According to Thapa, only 32 people have died in the capital Kathmandu.

He said that apart from Kathmandu, 16 people have died in Lalitpur, 5 in Bhaktapur, 6 in Kabre, 2 in Sindhupalchok, 5 in Panchthar, 2 in Dhankuta and 1 each in some other districts. Thapa said that 1053 people trapped in the flood have been rescued alive so far. Apart from this, 15 people are reported missing so far in the landslide.

Most of the damage due to floods has occurred in Kathmandu and surrounding areas. Thousands of people have become homeless due to floods here. DIG Thapa said that till today afternoon, more than 1200 houses have been completely damaged. 244 houses in Kathmandu district have been washed away in flood waters.

Due to the rains since last two days, its impact has been seen in 46 districts of the country. Due to continuous rains, electricity supply is closed in more than half the districts of the country. Internet services are disrupted across the country. All highways connecting Kathmandu to other districts are closed. Kathmandu has been cut off from many districts due to blocking of internet, mobile and telephone services.
