“Oil or gas reserves will change the face of the country”, Hardeep Singh Puri said on the launch of the National Deepwater Exploration Mission

New Delhi: Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday highlighted the importance of India’s energy security as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the ‘National Dipping Mission’ from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The purpose of this mission is to detect oil and gas reserves below the sea. Hardeep Singh Puri wrote on X that “deep water oil and gas reserves will change the face of the country.

Energy reserves will be doubled by 2032

Puri highlighted India’s progress in search of hydrocarbons. He said that 52 discoveries have been made in the last five years while 172 discovery has been done since 2014. Union Minister Puri further said that taking a major step towards the country’s energy self -sufficiency, Prime Minister Modi announced the launch of the ‘National Dipping Exploration Mission’ from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

He said, “This mission promoting indigenization on the mantra of Make in India will move forward with a resolve to double the national reserves by 2032 and to triple the current production by 2047, focusing on finding oil and gas reserves under the sea.

PM Modi announced a big announcement from Red Fort

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the National deep water investigation mission in his address to the nation with the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day, which aims to detect oil and gas reserves in the sea. Describing it as a “sea churning”, he said that the initiative would be implemented in Mission Mode.

PM Modi said on Friday that India is moving towards becoming self -sufficient in terms of important minerals and mineral investigation operations are going on at more than 1,200 places. Prime Minister Modi while addressing the nation on the 79th Independence Day said that today the whole world has become very cautious about important minerals and people are beginning to understand its ability well. Modi said, “What was not in much attention till yesterday, it is at the center today. Self -sufficiency in important minerals is also very important for India.
