Due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the situation is becoming challenging. The state is still not fully recovered from the disaster of Dharali. There is a threat of floods in eight other districts due to continuous rains here. On Sunday (August 17), the process of rain continues in Dohradun. In such a situation, the Emergency Operations Center of Uttarakhand has advised the District Magistrates of Dehradun, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarkashi districts to take precautions in view of the possibility of waterlogging and danger of floods due to heavy rains in their respective districts.

Haridwar has been raining heavily since Sunday morning. The markets of Jwalapur, the suburb of Haridwar, have been submerged due to heavy rains. The markets have been flooded inside the shops, causing a lot of damage and there is difficulty in removing vehicles. Many vehicles are stuck. At the same time, there is a problem in traffic due to filling rain water in Bhagat Singh Chowk, Bhupat Wala and other places in Haridwar. The Ganges river is flowing only 40 inches below the danger mark. Haridwar district administration has issued a warning in villages on the banks of river Ganges in Haridwar district.

Administration vacated 7 houses

The Uttarakhand government said that according to the information received from Tehsil Bageshwar, the houses of 7 families have been in danger due to rain and landslides in Harabad village. Individuals concerned with security have been transferred to Government Primary School, Harabad and Panchayat Bhawan, Harabad. The Uttarakhand government said that food kits have been distributed to every family through Patwari. According to the information received from the government, food grains have also been distributed to the damaged flour mill and shop. People are facing problems due to damage to the drinking water line.

One passenger killed on Kedarnath road

On Saturday, a pilgrim from Maharashtra died after being hit by a landslide debris on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Police said that Parmeshwar Bhim Rao Khawal (38) died after being hit by a large stone falling from the hill near Gadra, which was about one kilometer above Gaurikund, Kedarnath Yatra. Khawal was a resident of Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. At the same time, the couple crossing Chandrabhaga, a tributary of the Ganges in Rishikesh, were swept away in the fast flow. Vinesh Kumar, in -charge of Triveni Ghat Police Outpost, said on Saturday that Pintu (26), a resident of Chandreshwar Nagar and his wife Lakshmi (25), were trying to cross the river from Mayakund when their balance deteriorated and they were swept away in the fast streams of the river. He said that the incident took place at around 7 pm on Friday evening. Soon after the incident, a search operation was launched by the personnel of the Water Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), but it had to be stopped in the evening. However, it was resumed on Saturday morning, but the couple is not yet known.

Relief work continues in Dharli and Harsil

Efforts to bring life on track in Uttarakhand’s disaster affected Dharli and Harshil continued on Saturday. The repair work is going on on the Gangotri National Highway and the employees are engaged in drainage work from the temporary lake built in the Bhagirathi river after the sudden flood. The employees engaged in the work of draining the lake water said that the water level of the lake is starting to decrease, which is an encouraging sign. Down parts like rock, pillars and roadside railings are now visible. He said that there is a thick layer of silt on one side, which will be cleaned with the help of JCB. Officials said that this exercise is being done in a controlled manner so that sudden floods can be avoided at the bottom. On August 5, dozens of hotels, restaurants, homestays and houses were destroyed in Dharli village in the severe flood in Kheerganga river. A total of 69 people are missing, including nine military personnel, 25 Nepali citizens, six from Bihar, eight in Uttar Pradesh, eight from Dharli, five from nearby areas of Uttarkashi, two from Tehri and one from Rajasthan.
