The views of Akash Chopra and Sanjay Manjrekar came out amidst the debate on the workload management of Team India’s star Pesar Jaspreet Bumrah. While Manjrekar believes that the team should not run according to Bumrah, Chopra has given him a special message saying ’24 carat gold ‘and’ Kohinoor Diamond ‘. This debate has launched a new discussion between fans and experts about Bumrah’s Test career and his fitness.

During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, his workload management was the most discussed about Jaspreet Bumrah. Even before the series, the team management had made it clear that Bumrah would play only three of the five Tests. He played the first, third and fourth matches, but the second and then the series-disorder was rested in the fifth Test.

Many experts raised questions on this ‘Pick and Chook’ policy of Bumrah. Meanwhile, former cricketer and commentator Akash Chopra defended Bumrah on his YouTube channel. He said, “I was reading the article of Sanjay Manjrekar, in which the team should not run according to Bumrah. But my opinion is different. I don’t think Bumrah will play every Test. It is not a matter of moral or character debate, but a case of fitness. Feeding them when they are available.”

Chopra further said that if Bumrah had been a batsman, the matter would have been different, but as a bowler team combination could be easily changed. He said, “No bowler is like Bumrah. Do not force him to retire and push them towards retirement. They are 24 carat gold, Kohinoor Diamond. As much as you play, it is as much as it is icing for Indian cricket.”

In fact, Bumrah took 14 wickets in three Tests against England, including five wickets twice. This is the reason why Chopra believes that the longer Bumrah’s career is drawn, the more Team India will benefit.
