Five people have died in the chaos at the Indian Air Force (IAF) Chennai Air Show. Apart from this, there are reports of more than 250 people injured who have been admitted to the hospital. The air show was held today, October 6, at Chennai’s Marina Beach, which reportedly led to a stampede due to crowd management irregularities. The deceased have been identified as Srinivasan (48), Karthikeyan (34), John Babu (56) and Dinesh. The event was organized by the Indian Air Force to celebrate its 92nd anniversary.

More than 13 lakh people participated in the airshow

More than 13 lakh people reached the venue by train, metro, car and buses to watch the air show, due to which the event got registered in the Limca Book of Records. However, this moment of pride turned tragic when they were unable to control the traffic authorities after the event.

Officials said they expected at least 10 lakh people to gather at Chennai’s Marina Beach for the air show and arrangements were made accordingly. “People started gathering on the beach as early as 7 am and when the show ended, they left around 1 pm.
