6-lane capital region ring road to be built in Odisha
The central government has approved the construction of 6-lane access-controlled capital region ring road in Odisha. The Bhubaneswar bypass project will be developed under the hybrid annuity mode, which is an estimated cost of ₹ 8307.74 crore. About 110.875 km long, this road will play an important role in making traffic smooth and sharp in the capital region of Odisha. Presently the route from Rameshwar to Tangi is struggling with heavy traffic, as it passes through densely populated urban areas such as Khodha, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, causing a regular jam situation.
To solve this problem, this route will now be developed as a 6-lane access-controlled greenfield highway. The completion of this project will benefit not only Odisha, but also other states of Eastern India. This ring road will divert heavy commercial vehicles from urban areas, causing a clear decrease in both traffic pressure and pollution in cities like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khodha.
