Cases of withdrawing money by changing debit card inside the ATM booth of Uttar Pradesh News Desk city are continuously coming to the fore. When a police team did a detailed investigation of all the cases, it came to light that the Rewari gang of Haryana was carrying out such crimes. In the last eight months, 24 cases of this type of fraud have come to light in Gautam Buddha Nagar. Maximum cases were reported in Noida zone.

Noida Police officer involved in the investigation of the case said that the gang members from Rewari come to Noida by other means including bus and gather at one place. After this, the gang members leave in groups of three to commit crimes at different places.

By doing Reiki, the gang members first find out which ATM booth’s camera and machine are faulty. Where are there no security guards deployed? As soon as a person goes inside the booth. The gang members change his card in the blink of an eye under the pretext of helping. The accused keep 20 to 30 ATM cards with them.

The accused takes out the bank card whose card is with the person who entered the ATM booth. By the time the victim goes to some other place to withdraw the money, the accused have already withdrawn the amount from his account. When the message of withdrawal of money comes on the victim’s mobile, then he comes to know about the fraud. By the time the card is blocked, all the money has been withdrawn from the account.

This is how they used to cheat: According to the police, the gang members stand near the ATMs which do not have cameras installed between 1st and 10th of the month. After this, as soon as the victims come to withdraw money, they enter the ATM booth along with them. After the victim goes inside, the second accused enters and sees the pin. If there is a delay in withdrawing the money, the victim is asked to withdraw the money quickly. During this time, taking advantage of the opportunity, they change their cards and withdraw money from other ATMs. The workers working in the companies and factories of the city get their salaries between 1st and 10th.

Fraud discovered upon reaching home

A woman resident of Baraula had gone to withdraw money from the ATM booth located near her house. The machine was faulty so the money did not come out. Meanwhile, two young men came inside and after engaging in conversation, changed the woman’s card. A young man also secretly saw the PIN of the ATM card. When the woman reached home, she found out that her card had been changed and Rs 22,000 had been withdrawn from the account.

75 thousand rupees were withdrawn from the account. 55 year old Rani, resident of Chijarsi Colony, had gone to withdraw money from the ATM booth of Chotpur Colony last month. Money was not coming out due to a fault in the machine. Meanwhile, a young man came inside on the pretext of helping and changed the card in the blink of an eye. After some time, 75 thousand rupees were withdrawn from Rani’s account. He came to know about the fraud when he received the message of money being deducted on his mobile.
