Earth and Moon are about to come closer to each other! Hunter Moon will be visible in the sky this day, note down the date

Science News Desk – The Moon and Earth are going to come very close to each other. This view can be seen with open eyes on the evening of 17th October. The world calls it Hunter Moon, while for India it will be Sharad Purnima 2024. This is going to be the third and biggest supermoon of this year. During this period, the distance of the Moon from the Earth will be 3 lakh 57 thousand 364 kilometers. In the year 2024, this will be the shortest distance between the Earth and the Moon. The normal distance between the Earth and the Moon is 3 lakh 84 thousand 400 kilometers.

What is supermoon?
A supermoon is the situation when the Moon’s orbit is closest to the Earth. If understood from a scientific point of view, on October 17 the Moon will reach perigee, its closest point in the Earth’s orbit. Because of this it will appear larger than usual compared to a normal full moon. According to reports, the supermoon moon appears about 15 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than the full moon.

According to reports, the name Hunter Moon is popular in western countries. In olden times it was a signal for hunters to begin preparations for winter. It is said that hundreds of years ago hunters used to store meat to eat in winter. They began their hunt after the Hunter Moon, as it signaled the arrival of winter. According to the time and date, it is also called Falling Leaves Moon and Blood Moon.

Hunter Moon will be visible in India from 5 pm on October 17. However, it depends on the sunset in your area. The Hunter Moon will be visible shortly after sunset that day. Two more full moons will be visible in India this year. After October 17, this sight will be visible on November 16 and again on December 15.
