New Delhi: Actress Adah Sharma, known for her roles in films like The Kerala Story, has been in the news lately for moving into late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Bandra home. The apartment, where Sushant was found dead in 2020, has sparked mixed reactions among fans and the public.
Some accused the 1920 actress of using Sushant’s name for publicity, while others questioned her decision to live in the same space. Now, Adah has finally addressed the controversy.
Adah’s response to backlash
In a recent interview with India Today, Adah opened up about the criticism she faced after shifting into Sushant’s former home. When asked about the backlash, she had a rather composed and thoughtful response. She said, “As an actor, or even as a person, you cannot react to everything that’s been said. We all have a lot of things to do in life. Also, this is a free country, and everyone has the right to have an opinion.”
Instead of getting defensive, Adah maintained that she wasn’t there to justify her actions. “I am not here to tell anyone ‘I am a good person’ or give them reasons for my actions. I did what I had to do, and I know myself,” she added, suggesting that she has no regrets about her decision.
Why did Adah Sharma buy SSR’s house?
In an earlier interview with Bombay Times, Adah had shared the reasons behind her move. She described herself as sensitive to the vibes of a place and mentioned that Sushant’s home gave her positive energy. She said, “This is the first time I’ve moved out of my family home in Pali Hill, and I wanted a place with a view and space to feed birds. This apartment felt like the perfect match.”
Adah is clearly happy with her decision and remains unfazed by the criticism. “I’m all settled in and I really love the place,” she added.
Sushant’s Bandra house
For those unfamiliar, Sushant Singh Rajput rented the Mont Blanc apartment in December 2019. The duplex, spanning over 3,600 sq. ft., boasts a massive hall and three bedrooms. It was the same residence where the actor was tragically found dead on June 14, 2020, sparking widespread media attention and investigations. Reports claim that Sushant had rented the space for Rs 4.5 lakh per month.
