New Delhi, October 15 (IANS). Be it ‘Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hai, Mata Ne Bulaya Hai’ or ‘Ambe Tu Hai Jagdambe Kali’ bhajan or songs like ‘Do Ghut Pila De Sakiya’. He has been voiced by Narendra Chanchal, one of the famous singers of India, who not only sang many superhit songs for Hindi films but also earned the title of ‘Bhajan Samrat’ through the bhajans he sang.

Narendra Chanchal was born on 16 October 1940 in a Punjabi family in Amritsar. It is said that he grew up in a religious environment. This inspired him to sing bhajans and aarti. During this time he started singing religious songs and hymns.

After many years of struggle, Bhajan Samrat got his first big break from the 1973 film Bobby. In this film, he sang the song ‘Beshak Mandir Masjid’, which was highly appreciated and for this he also received the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award. Apart from this, he sang the song ‘Main Benam Ho Gaya’ for the film ‘Benam’ released in 1974. In the same year, he lent his voice to the song ‘Baaki Kuch Bacha To Manghai Mar Gayi’ in ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’.

Narendra Chanchal, who ruled people’s hearts with his voice, sang the song ‘Tune Mujhe Bulaya’ in the film ‘Asha’ (1980), which became a huge hit at that time. After this he sang the bhajan ‘Chalo Bulawa Aaya Hai’ for the 1983 film ‘Avatar’. This hymn also became popular among the people. Bhajan Samrat’s popularity started increasing and he started getting big projects one after the other. He lent his voice to the songs ‘Do Ghoont Pila De’ for the 1985 film ‘Kala Suraj’ and ‘Huey Hain Kuch Aise Woh Humse Parae’ for the 1994 film ‘Anjaane’.

By the time the 80s arrived, Narendra Chanchal had hoisted the flag of success. His popularity was such that everyone wanted him to sing. Be it showman Raj Kapoor or megastar of the century Amitabh Bachchan. Narendra Chanchal also released his biography named ‘Midnight Singer’, in which his life and difficulties are discussed. His mother also had faith in Vaishno Devi. According to media reports, he used to go to Vaishno Devi every year and perform there.

Bhajan Samrat Narendra Chanchal said goodbye to this world on January 22, 2021. He breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in Delhi.
