Every year Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. Sharad Purnima has special significance among all the full moons. This full moon of Ashwin month is also called ‘Sharad Poonam’ or ‘Raas Purnima’, which is a sign of the arrival of autumn. This year it is falling on October 16, 2024. According to beliefs, on the night of Sharad Purnima, nectar is showered by the light of Chandradev (Moon). In such a situation, kheer is kept in the moonlight at night. It is believed that on the day of Sharad Purnima, Goddess Lakshmi comes to visit the earth, hence it is called Kojagar Purnima.

Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped on Sharad Purnima. She has eight forms, which include Dhanalakshmi, Dhanyalakshmi, Raj Lakshmi, Vaibhav Lakshmi, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Kamala Lakshmi and Vijay Lakshmi.
Remedies for Sharad Purnima
On Sharad Purnima, donation of rice, donation of jaggery, donation of lamp (you can light a lamp and float it in water) and donation of home made kheer etc. are considered very good.
