Taniya Panja, one of the junior doctors sitting on an indefinite fast here demanding justice for the female doctor who was raped and murdered on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal, went to the toilet due to continuous hunger since October 5. She fell, after which she was admitted to the hospital. The indefinite fast unto death of junior doctors of government hospitals entered the 11th day today.

Official sources said that Tanaya, who had become weak due to her fast since October 5, was admitted to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital after she fell and became unconscious on Monday night. Now he is being continuously monitored by the medical board in the Critical Care Unit (CCU). A doctor said that his condition still remains critical.

According to sources, till now five junior doctors, out of which four are admitted in Kolkata and one in different hospitals of North Bengal. Currently, five junior doctors in Kolkata and one in North Bengal are on an indefinite fast demanding justice for their colleague. Meanwhile, Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Kumar Verma on Monday night imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code (BNNS), banning the gathering of more than five people at Dorina Crossing and Esplanade.

This order of the police is to ensure that the immersion carnival (Durga idol immersion) proposed by the West Bengal government passes through Red Road. A notification issued by the police commissioner said it has been learned that some individuals and organizations are planning to hold protests in the form of treason carnival in or around Rani Rashmoni Avenue, leading to immersion on Red Road. There is a possibility of disturbance in the carnival and there is a possibility of disturbance of public peace on a large scale.
