CM Omar’s first step: ‘Talked to DGP, asked not to ensure any green corridor for my movement’

CM says his cabinet colleagues should also follow this; Avoid waving sticks or using aggressive gestures. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday spoke to Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and asked him to ensure that there is no green corridor and traffic is not stopped during their movement.

According to reports, after taking oath as the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, Omar in his first post on Twitter said: “I have spoken to DG @JmuKmrPolice about when I will stop the “green corridor” or traffic. Go anywhere by road. I have instructed them to minimize public inconvenience and minimize the use of sirens. Any kind of stick waving or use of aggressive gestures is to be completely avoided. I am asking my Cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. Our conduct in everything should be favorable to the people. We are here to serve the people and not to cause inconvenience to them.”

Earlier, Omar had said that by electing the Deputy Chief Minister from Jammu, he has fulfilled his promise of giving proper representation to the people of Jammu. While Omar took oath as the CM of Jammu and Kashmir UT, Nowshera MLA Surinder Choudhary, who had defeated Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina, was sworn in as the Deputy CM of Jammu and Kashmir. Damhal MLA Hanjipora Sakina Itu, MLA Mendhar Javed Rana, MLA Rafiabad Javed Dar and MLA Chhamb Satish Sharma took oath as ministers of the Omar-led cabinet.
