Srinagar, October 17 (IANS). Omar Abdullah took oath as the new CM on Wednesday after winning the assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered him the oath of office and secrecy.

After taking oath, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted his picture on social media platform X. He wrote, “I am back.”

At the same time, in his second post, he made a special appeal to the Director General of Police and issued instructions. He wrote in his post, “Today I spoke to the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir. I have told them that when I go somewhere by road, no “green corridor” should be created or traffic should be stopped. I have instructed them to minimize the inconvenience caused to people. During this period, use of sirens should be minimized. Waving sticks or aggressive actions of any kind should be completely avoided. I am asking my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. Our behavior in everything should be people-friendly. We are there to serve the people, not to cause inconvenience to them.”

Let us inform that in the swearing-in program held at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center (SKICC), Srinagar, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Many leaders of ‘India’ block including Venugopal, Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav participated.

The Election Commission of India had declared the results of the assembly elections held in Jammu and Kashmir on October 8. National Conference-Congress alliance got majority. At the same time, BJP emerged as the second largest party after NC. BJP got 29 seats. At the same time, Congress got only six seats. Aam Aadmi Party’s account was also opened on one seat.

Assembly elections were held here for the first time after the abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
