Colombo, 17 October (HS). Most of the tourists arriving in Sri Lanka are Indians. This is evident from the figures of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. In the first half of October, Sri Lanka welcomed 63,491 tourists from all over the world.

According to Sri Lankan newspaper Daily Mirror, the Tourism Development Authority’s release said that from October 7 to October 15, an average of 4169.4 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka every day. In the first half of October, the maximum number of 18,078 tourists from India reached Sri Lanka. 4,504 tourists arrived from China and 4,495 from Britain. Germany, Russia and Australia ranked fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. So far this year, 1,548,299 tourists have reached Sri Lanka. India topped the list with 304,634 tourist arrivals. Britain came second with 140,959 arrivals and Russia came third with 130,701 arrivals.
