New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi offered prayers at the Valmiki temple here on Thursday on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and wished happiness, peace and prosperity for all the countrymen.

Earlier, a delegation of Valmiki Samaj met both the leaders and placed the problems of their society before them. Kharge said on this occasion that Valmiki Samaj is very weak economically and educationally in the entire country. To take forward the Valmiki society, there is a need to pay attention to his education. This will also provide social justice and everyone will move forward.

He said that when the Dalit community will be strong on manpower, mental strength and economic strength, then this society will also become stronger, hence Congress has started a campaign to save the Constitution and democracy. The country will become strong only if every section remains safe. He said that Congress is always committed to the inclusive development of the society.

Rahul Gandhi said that Maharishi Valmiki had shown humanity the path of truth, justice and harmony with love and compassion. Paying full respect to Maharishi Valmiki, he said that Mahatma Gandhi had spent a lot of time with this society in the Valmiki temple complex. He also stayed in Bapu Niwas for some time.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that Maharishi Valmiki ji, who wrote an epic inspired by compassion for an injured bird, gave the message of kindness, compassion and non-violence. His life message is the basis of Indian culture from which crores of people take inspiration.
