Jabalpur. In MP’s Jabalpur, an accused in a rape case committed suicide by stabbing himself after attacking a 20-year-old girl and her mother with a knife. The incident took place near Richhai of Ranjhi police station. Mother and daughter have been admitted to the hospital. The police is investigating the matter.
According to the police, around 10 pm on Thursday night, 26-year-old youth Vishal alias Shubham Rajput reached the girl’s house and started arguing. After some time, the situation became such that the accused attacked the girl and her mother with a knife, seriously injured her, locked himself in the bathroom and then stabbed her.
Neighbors informed Ranjhi police about the dispute. The police reached the spot and broke the bathroom door and sent Vishal to the medical college for treatment, where the doctors declared him dead. The condition of the girl injured in the incident and her mother also remains critical. He has been admitted to a private hospital.
I was released from jail a few days ago
The girl had filed a rape case against Amkhera resident Vishal Rajput in Gohalpur police station in 2023. During that time, the girl used to live with her mother near the accused’s house. On the complaint of the girl, the police arrested Vishal and sent him to jail. Vishal was released from jail about six months ago. For a few days, he started putting pressure on the girl and her mother to compromise and withdraw the case. Meanwhile, Vishal also had a fight with the girl.
In June 2024, the girl again went to Gohalpur police station and lodged a report against Vishal for threatening him and pressurizing him to withdraw the case, after which the police arrested Vishal, produced him again in the court and sent him to jail. Recently Vishal was released from jail. Due to continuous threats, the girl and her mother vacated their house from Amkhera and started living in Richhai of Ranjhi police station.

Even three days ago, Vishal went to the girl’s house and threatened the mother and daughter and pressurized them to withdraw the case. Vishal threatened that if the agreement was not reached then it would not be right. Vishal again reached the girl’s house at around 10 pm on Thursday night. As soon as the girl opened the door, he attacked her with a knife. In the incident, the mother and daughter suffered serious injuries in their stomach and waist. After committing the crime, Vishal went inside the bathroom and after closing the door, committed suicide by attacking himself with a knife.

Samar Singh Rajput, maternal uncle of the deceased, says that whatever allegations were made against Vishal alias Lokesh are completely baseless. The deceased had a love marriage with the girl. Stayed together for a few days also. After two months of marriage, the girl’s mother and brother came home and took her along. After this, a rape case was registered in Gohalpur police station and Lokesh was sent to jail. He got bail after being in jail for six months. During interrogation, she told that the mother and daughter were continuously harassing her. They were filing fake complaints against him sometimes in Adhartal and sometimes in Gohalpur police station. Four days ago also the girl and her mother had lodged a complaint at Adhartal police station.
