OpenAI has recently launched the Windows app for its AI chatbot ChatGPT, and users can download it from the Microsoft Store. OpenAI unveiled the macOS app for ChatGPT earlier this year and it has finally released one for Windows which is akin to the macOS app. This too will let you access ChatGPT quickly and allow you to leverage the power of AI to carry out tasks. Notably, this service won’t be accessible to everyone at the moment as it has only been rolled out for paid subscribers.
OpenAI in a blogpost said, it should be noted “that a subset of features available in the macOS and web version may not be available on this early version.” OpenAI added that the missing features will be made available as soon as the app is rolled out for the general public.

Which Features Are Missing?
For those curious, the newly launched ChatGPT app for Windows lacks a few notable features. These include the standard and advanced voice modes, integration with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive for setting up Context Connectors, and third-party authentication support for GPT Builder. Despite this, you can still upload files and images to the app and analyze them using the newly released o1 model.
If you’re using ChatGPT on Windows, you can easily bring the app into focus by using the “Alt + Space” shortcut, which comes in handy when you have multiple apps running in the background. According to OpenAI, the app will remember its last position, and if it resets, it will reopen at the bottom center of the screen.
Currently, the Windows version of ChatGPT is in its early stages and available only to Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers. However, OpenAI is expected to extend availability to users on the free tier in the near future.
