Lucknow will get a new elevated corridor! 13 km long bridge will add old and new city
Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation has proposed a 13 -km long elevated flyover to ease the traffic of Lucknow city and connect old and new areas. This much awaited project can reduce the capital’s major traffic problems to a great extent. According to the news of Hindustan Times, the proposed four -lane flyover will be built on the heer canal and will connect Dr. Shakuntala Devi Mishra University on Agra Road to Kalidas Marg. Officials claim that after the flyover is built, the time of traveling on this route, which takes more than an hour in congestion, will reduce to just 15 to 20 minutes.
₹ 2,270 crore cost
The estimated cost of the elevated flyover project is ₹ 2,270 crore and its main objective is to provide better connectivity from major urban centers like Hazratganj, Gomti Nagar and Cantt to traffic affected areas like Rajajipuram, Takarora, Alambagh, Mankar Nagar and Chowk. People of these areas have been troubled by narrow roads and hours of jam for a long time. Let me tell you, this is not the first time that such a plan has been revealed. Two years ago, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation had also proposed to construct an 8 km long three -lane elevated road from Rajajipuram to Kalidas Marg, the cost of about ₹ 778 crore. However, that plan could not come out of paper.
Plan on public demand
According to the news, a senior official associated with this information said that this new proposal has been prepared after the continuous demand of local representatives and citizens. This flyover will relieve the city congested routes and reduce pressure on main routes like Charbagh and Cantt. This flyover can improve traffic conditions in many areas including Balaganj Road, Para, Hardoi Road and Rajajipuram. After the approval of the state government to this project, the process of construction will proceed.
