BJP has made Navya Haridas its candidate against Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad, know who Navya is.

New Delhi, October 19 (IANS). The BJP on Saturday fielded Navya Haridas for the Lok Sabha by-election in Kerala’s Wayanad, where she will contest against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Navya Haridas is the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha. She has been a councilor in the Kozhikode Corporation twice and is the leader of the BJP parliamentary party in the corporation.

She had contested the last assembly elections in 2021 under the BJP banner from Kodokoda South constituency, but had to face defeat.

Navya Haridas has been a mechanical engineer by profession. He received the B.Tech degree from KMCT Engineering College, Calicut University in the year 2007.

According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Navya has no criminal cases and has assets worth Rs 1,29,56,264. According to the ADR, he also has a total liability of Rs 1,64,978.

It had fallen vacant after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi vacated the Wayanad seat after winning it in this year’s Lok Sabha elections and retained the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi’s name has been officially announced as the Congress candidate for the by-election on Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been in active politics since 1999, but she herself is contesting the elections for the first time. Initially he campaigned for his mother Sonia Gandhi in Amethi.

His brother Rahul Gandhi has a deep emotional connection with Wayanad. Where he had won during the 2019 elections after losing to BJP leader Smriti Irani in his stronghold Amethi. After this Wayanad became an important constituency for the Gandhi family.

The last date for filing nomination for Wayanad Lok Sabha seat is October 25. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 30 October.
