Headley, who was a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba and an informant for the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), had masterminded the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, which took the lives of over 150 people, including US citizens. Were involved.

Headley’s extradition process could be difficult due to his deep ties with the US DEA. Dawood came to India on an American passport to avoid investigation by Pakistani citizens. India’s extradition demand for Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-born Canadian travel agent who was assisting Headley in the 26/11 attacks, is also pending. Rana had helped the Lashkar conspiracy by arranging tickets for Headley.
Although a US court has approved Rana’s extradition from a Los Angeles jail, his lawyers have adopted new tactics to thwart India’s attempt to make him face the law here. Last year, Vikas Yadav and his associates were booked for kidnapping and robbery for ransom of Delhi-based cafe owner Rajkumar Walia. Walia had alleged that Yadav and his associate Abdullah Khan had kidnapped him and taken him to a room and demanded Rs 20 lakh.
