RCB left Mohammad Siraj for the swing king! Team director told the whole story
Royal Challengers Bangalore took a big decision by releasing some big players in their team in IPL 2025. There was a lot of discussion among the fans about this move. Now the team director has spoken on this whole matter. RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat told the whole story about the thinking and strategy behind this decision of the team.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took some shocking decisions before the IPL 2025 mega auction. The team released big names like Mohammad Siraj, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. The most talked about leaving Siraj, which was an important part of RCB’s bowling since 2017.
RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat has now clarified the reason for this strategy during a conversation with Cricbage. He told that the real target of the team was Bhuvneshwar Kumar and if Siraj was stopped, it would be difficult to buy Bhuvi. The result was that RCB spent ₹ 10.75 crore in the auction and included Bhuvneshwar in his team.
This decision also proved to be masterstroke. Bhuvi took 17 wickets in 14 matches this season and played a big role in RCB’s first IPL Trophy win. At the same time, Siraj also did not lag behind, he joined Gujarat Titans for ₹ 12.25 crore and took 16 wickets in 15 matches.
Not only this, there was a big change in captaincy. RCB released Faf du Plessis and made Rajat Patidar captain. The special thing is that Virat Kohli fully supported this decision and promised to adjust the Patidar under captaincy.
The result is in front of everyone, RCB won its first IPL title after 18 years by defeating Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad on 3 June.
