The 19 -year -old Pran, who was fond of stable photography and served as an assistant to a photographer in Lahore before partition, had never planned to act. But one night in 1939, destiny had something else for him, because just by standing at a shop with some kind of danger, the attention of writer Wali Mohammad Wali was attracted to him, who was working on his Punjabi film Yamla Jat with filmmaker Dalsukh M. Pancholi.

This film made superstar villain

Yamla Jat (1940), in which Durga Khote and Nur Jahan had acted as a child artist, proved to be a big success and Pran came to know for the villainy on the screen, although he found his character a little absurd. He started getting proposals for several films, but after his debut in Hindi films from the family (1942), in which he played the role of a romantic hero with Nur Jahan, he got a chance to move forward. Although the film was a silver jubilee hit, Pran did not like to run around the trees, which usually plays a hero.

Pran did not like himself in songs

Pran says in his biography, ‘I did not like myself in songs. Therefore, I decided to do films that either have no song or the songs filmed on me are less. Apart from this, running around trees behind her heroine was something in which I was never comfortable. ‘ This was the reason why she later selected the roles of the villain instead of positive characters in her career. In one of his interviews, the actor stated another reason for preferring the villains instead of the hero, ‘All the heroes look the same, except for some roles. And only the villain raises the hero. How will you recognize goodness until you know evil? It is because of Kansa that we know Krishna, because of Ravana, we know Rama.

Pran was born on 12 February 1920 and lived a beautiful life of 93 years. He died in 2013. But Pran continued to rule the film world for 4 decades of his career.
