Bangladesh announces team for Women’s World Cup, Nigar Sultana will be the captain of the team
Bangladesh has announced a 15 -member team for the Women’s World Cup 2025 to be held in India from 30 September to 2 November. Wicketkeeper-batsman Nigar Sultana Joti has been made the captain of the team. Apart from this, wicketkeeper Rubia Haider Jhelik has also been included in the ODI team for the first time in this team.
Born in 1997, Jhelik made his T20 International debut against Sri Lanka in 2023 and has played six T20 Internationals so far, scoring 58 runs at an average of 9.66, with his highest score 20 runs. In domestic cricket, he has represented Khulna and Barisal Divisions.
The young pair of veteran left -arm spinners Nahid Akhtar, leg -spinners Faheema Khatoon and Shorna Akhtar and Marufa Akhtar are expected to play a key role in the tournament. In its first ODI World Cup in New Zealand in 2022, Bangladesh finished seventh, under the captaincy of Joti. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how they perform in this tournament.
Bangladesh started its World Cup campaign on Thursday, 2 October. Premdasa will do against Pakistan at the stadium and he would like to start the tournament with a win.
