‘Cumer’ storm caused havoc in China’s Hainan Island, now moved towards Vietnam

Beijing: The ‘Kajiki’ storm on Sunday caused havoc with strong winds and torrential rains in the Henan Island of Southern China and the surrounding Guangdong province. This storm is now moving towards the middle coast of Vietnam passing over the open sea. According to China’s official news agency Xinhua, around 20,000 people from potentially dangerous areas have been evacuated to safe places in view of the threat of the storm.
Winds running at a speed of 162 kilometers per hour
The fishing boats were called back to the port before the storm and more than 21,000 crew members also returned to the coast. In a small video posted by Guangdong Radio and Television, the branches of trees were seen to be broken due to strong winds and a boat was seen moving loudly. The waves were seen climbing the ghat, which can be gauged by the seriousness of the situation. The National Meteorological Center of China said that the curiosity has gained more strength by moving west over the sea. Its maximum stable winds have reached 162 kilometers per hour.
Possibility of 35 cm rainfall in Honan
The southern parts of the island, especially the famous seashary site Sanya, is expected to receive 25 to 35 cm of rainfall.
The Sanya city administration has temporarily discontinued commercial establishments, tourist destinations and public transport services. In a social media post, citizens have been appealed not to leave the house unnecessarily. The ‘Cajiki’, which means Spearfish or Swordfish in Japanese, is expected to collide in the coastal region of Vietnam by Monday afternoon.
Boats prevented from going to the sea
According to the Vietnam News Agency, the farmers of the city are busy reaping their paddy crop before the storm arrives. The coastal provinces have banned the boats from going to the sea since Monday and the boats that are in the sea have been instructed to return immediately. The administration has also instructed the state and municipalities to strengthen embankments, reservoirs and irrigation systems. (AP)
