Australia vs South Africa 3rd ODI: Australia’s young all -rounder COPER Connolly took 5 wickets in six overs on Sunday (August 24), bowling brilliantly in the third and last ODI against South Africa in the third and last ODI match against South Africa. He completed the claw by making Tony de George, Dewald Brevis, Vian Mulder, Corbin Bosch and Keshav Maharaj as his victim. He has taken five wickets in the innings for the first time in his profession cricketer career.

Konoli has become the youngest player to take five or more wickets in an ODI innings for Australia. He has done this feat at the age of 22 years 2 days. He left behind Craig McDermot, who took five wickets at 22 years 204 days in the 1987 match against Pakistan in Lahore. With the age of 22 years 211 days, Mitchell Starc is at number three in this list.

Apart from this, Konoli also took the record of Best bowling performance for Australia as a spinner. Earlier, in the 2005 match against West Indies in Melbourne, Brad Hogg took 5 wickets for 32 runs.

Cooper Konoli is Australia’s left -arm second finger spinner who has taken five wickets in an ODI innings. Earlier in 2004, this feat was done by Michael Clarke (5/35) against Sri Lanka in Dambula.

Significantly, in this match, Australia defeated South Africa by 276 runs to register the second biggest win in their ODI history. However, the series South Africa won 2–1.

Batting first after winning the toss, Australia scored 431 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in the prescribed 50 overs. In response, South Africa collapsed for 155 runs in 24.5 overs.
