UGC’s new decision, these online courses have ended recognition
University grants commission news: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions to all higher educational institutions that they will not operate courses related to psychology, nutrition and other healthcare from the academic session 2025 in free and remote education or online mode. This ban will be implemented under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021. Institutions have also been instructed not to admit any students in these courses from the upcoming academic session.
According to reports, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions to all higher educational institutions that they will not operate courses related to psychology, nutrition and other healthcare from the academic session 2025 in free and remote education or online mode.

This ban will be implemented under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021. According to UGC Secretary Manish Joshi, no higher educational institution (HEI) will not be allowed to teach any affiliated and healthcare courses included in the NCAHP Act, 2021, including the academic session July-August, 2025 and then through psychology.
Institutions have also been instructed not to admit any students in these courses from the upcoming academic session. This ban will apply to courses under the National Associate and Health Care Business Commission (NCAHP) Act, 2021.

These include subjects like psychology, microbiology, food nutrition, biotechnology, clinical nutrition and dietary science. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the concerns of maintaining the quality of vocational training.
