Cheteshwar Pujara Records: Cheteshwar Pujara retired from cricket on Sunday (August 24) and said goodbye to a brilliant career. Pujara, who scored 7195 runs in 103 Tests, is counted among India’s most trusted number-3 batsmen. But his career cannot be judged only by run and century. His name is some unique records that rarely break and will remain his identity for generations to come.

Cheteshwar Pujara of Indian Test cricket always left a different impression from his style of batting. He scored 7195 runs in 103 Tests with 19 centuries and 55 half -centuries. But the real identity was given to him by his long, patient and struggle -filled innings. Now that Pujara has said goodbye to cricket, let’s look at his three records that rarely break.

1. Indian only Indians to play more than 500 balls

In the 2017 Ranchi Test (against Australia), Pujara faced 202 runs in 525 balls. This innings lasted 672 minutes i.e. about 11 hours 12 minutes. India’s 11 batsmen have faced 400+ balls in Tests, but only Pujara has done the act of crossing 500 balls. Rahul Dravid is second in this case, who played 495 balls.

2. Unique record of batting all 5 days of Test

So far, only 13 batsmen have batted all the five days of the match in the history of Test cricket. But Pujara’s name is different because he is the only batsman who scored less than 75 runs while doing so. In the 2017 Kolkata Test (against Sri Lanka), he scored 52 runs in the first innings and 22 runs in the second. Due to rain, the match continued and Pujara landed at the crease every day. This record breaking seems almost impossible.

3. The most first class double century for India

Pujara has scored a total of 18 double centuries in his career (including Tests and Domestic Cricket). This figure holds him at number four in the world, where only Don Bradman, Volley Hammond and Patsey Hendraine beyond him. In India, no one has touched this record from far and wide. The second number is Vijay Merchant named only 11 double century.

Cheteshwar Pujara played not only for Team India but also for Saurashtra in domestic cricket and from there he made his mark. In the coming time, there is hardly any batsman who made such unique records with patience and technology like Pujara.
