Today the Indian Navy is going to get two guards from the sea INS Udayagiri and INS Himgiri. This is the first time two warships in two Indian shipyards are being included in the Navy simultaneously. In addition, India will have three-frigate squadron which will showcase the country’s industrial technology and power through indigenous capacity. On 1 July, Nilgiri Class Stealth Freetgate was built under Udayagiri and on 31 July under Project-17A. Advance Stealth Freetgate was handed over to Himgiri Navy. Now today both these frigate navy are going to be commissioned.

What is the specialty of indigenous warship?

  1. INS Udayagiri is built at Majgaon Dokyard while INS Himgiri is made in Kolkata Shipyard. Such materials were used to make both these warships which are not easily catching the radar.
  2. They weigh about 6,670 tonnes and length 149 meters. Both these warships are as high as the 15 -storey building. Their speed is 52 kilometers per hour.
  3. Talking about the range, once fuel is filled, they can travel for more than 10 thousand kilometers.
  4. These vessels can carry C King helicopter for helicopter operation, capable of finding and beating submarines and superficial ships.
  5. These vessels will be equipped with BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles that are capable of attacking both the sea and the land from a distance of 290 km.
  6. These have the ability to kill very close missiles and drones. These warships equipped with Sonar system can detect submarine in deep water.
  7. From the Arabian Sea to the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal, they will be able to monitor the actions of both Pakistan and China.
  8. These warships have been constructed with the help of more than 200 MSME companies … from which 4 thousand people have got a direct job.

Navy strength will increase in Indo-Pacific sector

According to the Ministry of Defense, both these ships have been built under Project 17A. These are designed in such a way that they can avoid enemy radar, infrared and sound sensors. The deployment of both warships will increase the strength of the Navy in the Indo-Pacific sector.

INS Himgiri has been created by Kolkata’s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). Its name is taken from the old Ins Himgiri. At the same time, INS Udayagiri has been made by Majhgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai. It is named after the Udayagiri mountain range of Andhra Pradesh, which is made in just 37 months.
