South Korean business houses hope for stronger cooperation between Korea and America
Seoul, November 6 (IANS). Major business organizations of South Korea on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election. He also appealed to them to further strengthen cooperation between South Korea and America.
The Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) congratulated Trump on his election victory. Also emphasized that Korea-US trade and economic partnership is based on a strong security alliance.
According to Yonhap news agency, KCCI expressed hope for continued bilateral relations under the incoming Trump administration and said South Korean companies have contributed to US employment and industrial diversification through investments in advanced industries including semiconductors and EV batteries.
“South Korea’s efforts to build shared interests will continue to play an important role. We look forward to advancing our partnership in Trump’s second term, leading to greater economic achievements between our two countries,” KCCI said in a statement. “
The Korea Enterprises Foundation (KEF) also expressed hope that good friendship under the new Trump administration will further strengthen South Korea-US cooperation in areas such as economy and security.
The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) appealed to US President-elect Trump to improve bilateral relations based on the Korea-US Free Trade Agreement. It came into force in 2012.
Republican Party candidate Donald Trump received more than 270 Electoral College votes in the US presidential election. He has become the first American in more than a century to return to the White House after leaving office once.
