Ramayana Part 1 & 2 is directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

It’s official. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayan Part 1 will release on Diwali 2026. The second part will hit the theaters during the Festival of Lights in 2027. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will see Ranbir as Lord Ram, Sai Devi Sita. South star Yash as Ravana. Producer Namit Malhotra officially announced the two-part project on Instagram on Wednesday. Sharing a poster of Ramayana, Namit Malhotra wrote, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring to the big screen this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years Is. And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams have been working tirelessly with only one aim: to create the most authentic, sacred and visual representation of our history, our truth and our culture – our “Ramayana”. Presenting an astonishing transformation. For people all over the world.”

He further added, “Join us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence. Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. On behalf of our entire Ramayana family.”

The announcement came just weeks after Yash confirmed his association with Ramayan. The KGF star revealed that apart from playing the role of Raavan, he will also co-produce the project with Namit Malhotra. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter India, “If the character is treated like a character… if that doesn’t happen today, the film won’t get made. To make a movie with that kind of budget, you need that kind of actors to come together and work for the project. It should be beyond you and your stardom. We have to put the project and vision first.”

He further added, “If you had asked me ‘Would you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Raavan is the most exciting character to play as an actor, so I really like the shades and nuances of a particular character. There is huge scope to present it in a very different way.”

Ramayan is currently in its pre-production stage.
