Vaishno Devi Landslide- Yatra also postponed on third day

The journey has been stopped after the landslide at Ardhkunwari of Vaishno Devi Yatra route. Many devotees are trapped after the journey was postponed. Some passengers are waiting for the journey to resume at the hotels in Katra.

Devotees said that they have been asked to wait until the debris is cleaned. A red alert has been issued after the incident. Rescue operation continues.

Here, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has taken responsibility to send the bodies to their homes. 24 dead have been identified. The board will give Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased and Rs 4 lakh disaster management.

A landslide occurred near the Ardhkunwari Indraprastha restaurant due to heavy rains at around 3 pm on 26 August at this stage of Vaishno Devi Yatra. 34 died in the accident, more than 20 injured are undergoing treatment.

Special train will run to Delhi to remove stranded tourist

A special train has been arranged to facilitate the movement of trapped passengers from Jammu to Delhi after a sudden flood and cloudburst in some parts of Jammu division. The train left Jammu railway station at 11:30 am today. Officials have said that passengers trapped in this train will be given priority in climbing.

Katra Hotel Association decided- Free service to trapped passengers

The Katra Hotel Association has announced that they will provide free housing to the trapped pilgrims and needy after the disastrous landslide on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route. Association president Rakesh Wazir said that the association has decided to provide free housing to all needy people for 2-4 days.

Deputy CM’s charge- People did not die in landslide, they were killed

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary criticized LG Manoj Sinha and sought a response to the flood situation in the state. He alleged that Vaishno Devi Yatra was not stopped despite cloudburst and landslides warning. Chaudhary claimed that the victims did not die in Vaishno Devi Landslide, but they were killed. LG Manoj Sinha should answer.

The Deputy Chief Minister alleged a criminal conspiracy behind the Vaishno Devi landslide and said that the matter should be investigated.
