Son murdered his mother and sister out of greed for property; included son

A shocking case of murder has come to light from Sambalpur, Odisha. Here a man along with his son murdered his own 90-year-old mother and 62-year-old sister at their home.
Police found the burnt bodies of Snehlata Dixit and her daughter Sairendri Dixit on the first floor of their house in Hatapada. According to officials, earlier the incident was being investigated as an unnatural death. Later, during interrogation of the family members of the deceased, it was revealed that it was a case of murder. After this the police arrested Snehlata’s son Jagannath and her grandson Sanket.
Sambalpur ASP said that it was a planned murder, which was done over a property dispute. In the initial investigation, the police found that both the people were first strangled to death. After this they were burnt. However, the actual cause of death will be known after post-mortem. Earlier, Snehlata’s younger daughter Indrani Purohit had alleged that her brother had killed her mother and elder sister over a land and property dispute.
Another police officer said that the mother and daughter lived on the first floor of a two-storey building. His son Jagannath lived with his family on the ground floor of the building. Local people had informed the police after seeing the fire on the first floor of the building between 10.30 and 11 pm on November 5. The police reached the spot and recovered the burnt bodies, following which an investigation was launched, the officer said.
