ICC attacked Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, gave poor rating

New Delhi. ICC : ICC has declared the out field of Green Park Stadium in Kanpur as bad. ICC has given it a poor rating, due to which one demerit point has also been added to the stadium’s account. However, it is a matter of relief that the pitch of the stadium has been described as satisfactory. The second match of the Test series between India and Bangladesh was played in this stadium. India won this match by 7 wickets in just two and a half days of play.

Only 35 overs could be played on the first day of this match in Green Park. Whereas not a single over could be bowled on the second and third days. That too, when there was no rain during the third day of play. Despite almost two and a half days of play being washed out by rain, India took all 20 wickets of Bangladesh in just 121.2 overs. In reply, we won by scoring 383 runs in 52 overs at a run rate of 7.36.

ICC gives rating on these parameters
After any match or tournament, ICC rates the respective venue based on the review of the match referee. This rating is done on 4 scales. Very good, satisfactory, unsatisfactory and unfit. An unsatisfactory rating results in one demerit point being added to the venue’s account, while an unfit rating results in three demerit points. If a ground receives five or more demerit points in a five-year period. Then that ground gets banned for 12 months. The stadium is not assigned to host any international match during this period.

Green Park Stadium remained in controversies
Even before the India-Bangladesh match, the PWD department had declared the stands of Green Park unsafe. Also, the department had instructed the officials to provide only limited number of upper level seats for the spectators. The ownership of the stadium belongs to the UP government, but the responsibility of the stadium and its maintenance rests with UPCA. Even during the match, the stadium in Kanpur was criticized a lot. In such a situation, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla had defended. However, he also agreed that the stadium needed renovation. Now ICC The decision to improve the condition of the stadium has increased the possibility of improvement.
