‘When the time comes, I will also return to the Test team’, Suryakumar Yadav has not given up hope
Suryakumar Yadav just after Rohit Sharma retired from the T20 format. Indian team Was given T-20 captaincy. Since then, he has led India to 3-0 series wins against both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Now Surya faces a difficult challenge from South Africa because Indian team India has to play a series of four T-20 matches against the African team at its home and this series is going to start from today i.e. 8th November.
However, before the start of this series, Surya has expressed his desire to return to the Test team. It is noteworthy that he played his only Test against Australia in February 2023. In the only Test played in Nagpur, he was dismissed by Nathan Lyon for just eight runs. Since then, the right-handed batsman has been waiting to be recalled from the team. Surya believes that when the time comes, he will also return to the Test team.
Suryakumar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo, “When the time comes, I will return to Test. I am playing all the domestic tournaments, be it red-ball or white-ball. I do not miss any match. If I return to Test If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen.”
In the recently concluded Test series, India was defeated by New Zealand at home. Rohit became the first captain to lose a series 3-0 at home and the experienced player is being criticized a lot. Meanwhile, Suryakumar supported India’s Test and ODI captain and said that Rohit has a strong personality and will bounce back soon.
Surya further said, “Winning and losing are common in sports. Everyone works hard, everyone wants to win. For me, the most important thing in life is balance. Whether he (Rohit) performs well or not, His character doesn’t change, that’s a quality I think a player should always have.”
