Jhansi: In a shocking case of the modern-day heist, a 50-year-old man was rescued from captivity in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, after being held hostage for a Rs 3 lakh ransom. The police apprehended three individuals, including a woman, who allegedly orchestrated the honeytrap and kidnapping scheme.
The rescued man has been identified as Lallu Chaubey, a resident of Lalitpur. Chubey received a call from a woman, luring him to a meeting in Jhansi. Unknown to him, this was a meticulously crafted honeytrap, orchestrated by a cunning gang. Upon arrival, he was swiftly taken captive and held hostage since Thursday.
Chaubey’s son, alerted to the situation, filed a complaint with the police, reporting the kidnapping and a ransom call. The police, acting swiftly, launched a multi-pronged investigation, forming several teams to locate the missing man.
In a display of clever tactics, a constable, posing as the victim’s son, was sent to deliver the ransom. This ruse allowed the police to track the accused, leading them to the location where Chaubey was being held.
A swift and decisive operation by the police teams led to the successful rescue of Chaubey and the arrest of the three accused – Kiran (35), Akhilesh Ahirwar (30), and Satish Singh Bundela (27).
During interrogation, the accused revealed their modus operandi – using women to lure unsuspecting men into a trap, where they were then held hostage and forced to pay hefty ransoms. Police investigations have uncovered the existence of a larger network of women associated with this criminal gang.
