The ACB court of Ahmedabad City Sessions Court ruled on Friday in the bitcoin robbery and kidnapping case of 2018. Former BJP MLA Nalin Kotdia, former SP Jagdish Patel of Amreli, former police inspector Anant Patel were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Shailesh Bhatt’s partner hatched a conspiracy
In the year 2018, the builder Shailesh Bhatt, a resident of Surat, alleged that during interrogation in a case, police officers of Amreli district took him hostage at some unknown place. After this, the police officers intimidated and transferred bitcoins worth Rs 12 crore to their account. Former BJP MLA Nalin Kotadia was also involved in this conspiracy.
Later, Shailesh Bhatt also accused his partner Kirit Paladia of meeting the police. In the investigation of CID, it was also proved to be correct that Kirit Paladia hatched this whole conspiracy.
Police officers including SP were arrested in 2018
The Gujarat government handed over the investigation of this high profile case to Ahmedabad CID. In the year 2028, many policemen including SP were also arrested in this case.
After the arrest of Shailesh Paladia and policemen, BJP MLA Nalin Kotadia was also found to be involved in the conspiracy.
BJP MLAs were caught from Maharashtra
However, after the name surfaced, former BJP Nalin Kotdia went underground. He was then declared a fugitive. A month later, in September 2018, Nalin Kotadia was arrested from Dhule in Maharashtra. Here he was hiding at the residence of one of his companions.
