In the first match of the UAE T20 TRAI series 2025 played in Sharjah on Friday (August 29), Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 39 runs and made a brilliant fire of the series. In this match, captain Salman Ali Aga and fast bowler Haris Rauf became the star of Pakistan.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 182/7 runs in 20 overs. Initially, Sahibzada Farhan (21 runs, 10 balls) made a fast start, but Saim Ayub (14) and Fakhar Zaman (20) could not convert into a big score. Captain Salman Ali Aga handled the team stuck in crisis at 83/4. He scored an unbeaten 53 runs (3 fours, 3 sixes) off 36 balls. Mohammad Nawaz (21 runs, 11 balls) and Faheem Ashraf (14 runs, 5 balls) batted fast in the last overs to reach the team’s score to 182.
Farid Ahmed took 2 wickets for Afghanistan, while Rashid Khan, Mujib, Umarzai and Nabi took 1-1 wickets.
Chasing the target, Afghanistan started a fast in Powerplay. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (38 runs, 27 balls) batted well and the team scored 85/2 for 10 overs. But the middle order was completely shattered and the team collapsed at 143. Rashid Khan tried to make the match exciting by hitting 39 runs (5 sixes) in 16 balls, but he did not get any other batsman.
For Pakistan, Haris Rauf took 4/31 wickets while bowling brilliantly. Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz and Sufiyan Mukim got 2-2 wickets.
